Roberta Coons-Redig receives the American Heritage Award at MNU

Roberta Coons-Redig, a member of the WCHS class of 2006 and daughter of Tanya Coons-Redig of White City, graduated Summa Cum Laude with Who's Who Honors from MidAmerica Nazarene University in Olathe Kansas, May 2, 2010 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Graphic Design and Spanish.

The American Heritage Award is given each year during the graduation ceremony to one outstanding senior woman and one outstanding senior man. This award is the highest non-academic award granted to a graduating senior. The award, made by faculty election, is based upon campus citizenship, spiritual vitality, and all-around contribution to the University. Eric Unruh was the male award winner.

While at MidAmerica Roberta was year book editor her sophomore and junior year. Her senior year she was Homecoming Queen, and managed publicity in the student government office and created the student's weekly news sheet. Roberta traveled with mission groups spending 6 weeks in Ecuador, South America, where she surprised everyone with the welding skills she learned at WCHS. She also went with MNU on work/mission trips to Greensburg Kansas for Tornado clean up. This March she traveled with MNU teams to New York City to help serve people through the Lamb's church and urban ministries.

MidAmerica Nazarene University seeks to transform the individual through intellectual, spiritual, and personal development for a life of service to God, the church, the nation, and the world.

Thanks to the Wolgast, WCHS Alumni, Ester Williams, Jellison Scholarship, Junction City Rotary, and MNU Bresee Scholarship committees, the Kohler Family, and White City staff and coaches for your encouragement and contribution, to Roberta's life and education.

Roberta has a job with a graphic arts studio working in the design department in the Kansas City area. She is scheduled to accompany an MNU team for a 3 week mission trip to Australia this summer.
