Topeka - Representative Tom Moxley (R-Council Grove) announced today he is running for reelection for the Kansas House of Representatives' 68th District. A life-long traditional Republican, Moxley is a farmer and rancher who began his legislative service in 2007.

"It is a great privilege to serve Morris and Dickinson counties, " Rep. Moxley said. "It is my hope that the district voters will once again give me the honor of representing them so we can continue to improve our communities and state."

Rep. Moxley has advocated, supported and worked to insure a greater portion of necessary government funding comes from state revenues instead of local property taxes. "The state should pay for state initiatives, like education and highways", says Moxley.

Moxley has worked with both political parties, both houses of the legislature and both Governors with which he has served in or-'der to pass needed legislation. He says: "It has been my pledge to bring people together on a state level to make quality policy decisions that will help Kansas be an even better place to live."

Representative Moxley has been a consistent voice to limit the growth of state government and make it more responsive to our citizens. Government is considerably smaller today than just two years ago. More than 1 billion dollars has recently been cut from state budgets. Moxley has put his foot down at that level however and believes further slashes would be counter productive. Results from further cuts, he offers, would include early release of criminals from our prisons. "That is not acceptable", says Moxley.

Jobs are a huge priority for Representative Moxley. The latest budget, which he worked to pass, made possible full reimbursement of indigent care for our local Nursing Homes. Failure to pay these nursing facilities would have been catastrophic for our local facilities possibly even causing closure. This would have had major economic and social repercussions right in Morris and Dickinson Counties. He also voted for funding of other elderly care programs like "meals on wheels", and in-home health care for the frail elderly, and eliminating the waiting list for the devel-opmentally and physically disabled.

Moxley supports education funding and believes that no child or generation of children should be deprived of a quality education. Moxley knows that education jobs are important to rural Kansas. "However, for far to long the state has rolledthe burden of education down to the local property owner", says Moxley.

Moxley is an advocate of good roads throughout Kansas and not just in the cities. "We have made a large investment to have quality roads and maintaining those is a must. Additionally, highway maintenance jobs are extremely important to rural Kansas." says Moxley. Thanks to the new Comprehensive Highway program that Moxley supported, Morris and Dickinson counties will each have no less than 8 million dollars spent annually. This will provide the good roads that farmers, ranchers and rural industries need to succeed in Kansas. This funding will help counties and townships maintain their infrastructure, while again helping to hold down property taxes. It also means rural jobs.

Representative Moxley has had perfect attendance during his four years and has missed only 3 votes out of more than 2000. In addition, during the last few tough budget, years he has voluntarily turned back a percentage of his salary. This year he turned back over 16 percent in sympathy with the sacrifices many government programs have made.

The 68th District includes all of Morris County and the southern portion of Dickinson County, including Abilene, Carlton, Enterprise, Heri-ngton, Hope, and Woodbine.
