Last year on Father's Day, Keith got a bib that said "Grandpa's little helper".... which was Jay and Liz's way of telling us we were going to be grandparents again. This year on Father's Day we celebrated that precious baby by witnessing

Emma's dedication where Jay and Liz go to church in Ottawa. Little Emma was a perfect angel through church and even took a little nap on this grandma's shoulder, much to my delight. Nothing like snuggling a grandbaby. And getting to celebrate with my husband, my two sons who are now fathers, Liz's dad and our friend Wade, the proud papa of three little boys, made the day even more special.

Father's Day is a special time. Even though Keith's dad has been gone for 43 years and mine 22 years, we still have wonderful memories to cherish. I still remember when Keith's dad found out he had cancer and had been given 6 weeks to live.... as we were all sitting around the supper table at Keith's parents house in Dwight, Keith's brother-in-law asked when we were going to have a family and rather quietly, I said in about 7 months...... his dad, who was sitting by me, was the only one who "got it" and he turned to me and said, "I'll see that little boy born!", and he did. Art had his first bad attack the day after he had seen Jeff for the first time and died when Jeff was six weeks old! But, he had "seen that little boy born".

I also remember the day my dad died. He had had a lung collapse and they were sending him on to the hospital in Wichita. I walked into his hospital room in Herington before he left and said I would see him in Wichita. He said, "No, sis, I'm checking out." I said yes he was checking out to go to Wichita, to which he answered, "No, sis, I'm checking out, just remember I love you". He died enroute to Wichita but I will always remember that.....just remember I love you.

Yes, Father's Day has come and gone for 2010, but in our heart's, our father's, the father of our children and now our children who have become fathers, it's Father's Day everyday......I love you Keith, Joel, Jay, Dad and Art!!
