Robert Blanton

Robert Wayne Blanton, 74, Wichita, Kan., passed away Monday, August 24, 2009, at Via Christi St. Francis Hospital in Wichita.

He was born November 27, 1934, to John and Leora (Parish) Blanton in Dunlap.

He married Lynda Pauly on May 5, 1964, in St. Joseph, Mo. Robert served in the United States Air Force from 1951 to 1955. He was also a member of the American Legion and VFW. Following military service he opened an automotive repair shop in Council Grove, where he worked as a mechanic for 23 years before retiring. He and Lynda relocated to Branson, Mo., in 2004. He will be dearly missed by family and friends.

Survivors include: his wife, Lynda, of the home; sons, Gary Blanton and wife Sandra, Branson, Mo., daughter, Shelly Hennes and husband Jeff, Wichita; and son Robert Wayne Blanton, Jr.; six grandchildren; three sisters, Doris Chase, Council Grove, Roberta Olsen, Alta Vista, and Geneva Bast, Cedar Falls, Iowa; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Junior Blanton, William Blanton and Richard Blanton; and a sister, Maxine Scobee.

Funeral services were held Thursday, August 27, at Penwell-Gabel Flint Hills Chapel, Council Grove. Burial followed at Greenwood Cemetery.
