Be Creative @ Your Library was the theme for the 2009 summer reading program offered by the White City School Library and the White City Public Library. The libraries have been teaming up to offer a summer reading program for the past several years. The program is open to all students in the White City school and all youth patrons of the public library. Younger students are challenged to read at least 10 books during the summer and older students must read at least 1000 pages. When school resumed in the fall, students that turned in their completed forms were rewarded with a bag full of treats provided by the public library, the school library, and area businesses including Dairy Queen, Subway, and TCTelco of Council Grove.

A Huskie congratulations to the students that participated in the program this summer. Participants include Jakob Brown, Hannah Nelson, Erin Woods, Morgan Ash, Delaney Rapp, Charlie Ann Kidd, Staci Kutzler, Ajay Brown, Kaylee Cunningham, Megan Barger, Colton Anderson, Angel Breunig, Alexis Campuzano, Hannah Stilwell, Lauren' Campuzano, Mason Hinkle, Rachel Oltmanns, Michael Tate, Jamie Beck, Brayden Ash, and Megan Stenstrom.
