Helen Holmes, 94, of New Baden, died Sunday, June 20, 2010 at Countryside Manor in Aviston. She was born December 13, 1915 in Kansas City, Kansas, daughter of Michael and Dora Kolich, nee Sta-resina, and they both preceded her in death.

She married John Holmes on March 4, 1935 in Liberty, Missouri, and he died December 12, 1979.

Other precedents included three brothers, John Kolich, George Kolich, and Joe Kolich; five sisters, Anne Monach, Marie Andrews, Rose Blessington, Kate Bond, and Barbara Johnson; and one grandchild.

She is survived by her children, Helen Marie Holmes of Shawnee, Kansas, Donna (Karrel) Spicer of New Baden, John (Pat) Holmes of Glendale, Arizona, and Judy (John) McK-earney of Tucson, Arizona; a brother, Frank (Mildred) Colich of Shawnee, Kansas; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.

Mrs. Holmes was a member of St. George Parish in New Baden. She was a homemaker.

The funeral was this morning from St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Kansas City, Kansas. Interment Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Kansas City.

Memorials may be made to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Kansas City, Kansas and will be received at the church or Hempen Funeral Home, 15 East Hanover, New Baden, IL 62265.
