Brenda (Gefroh) Scherer

Brenda (Gefroh) Scherer, age 52, of Wichita Falls, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, May 12, 2010, in the Texhoma Christian Care Center, Wichita Falls.

Brenda Marie was born on April 13, 1958, to John and Lois (Jun-tunen) Gefroh in Rolla. Brenda attended and graduated from Rolla High School in 1976. She attended college at Wahpeton State School of Science, UND of Grand Forks, and Solano Community College in California. She received her Associates Degree in Interior Design.

Brenda was united in marriage to George Scherer on August 14, 1982, at St. Joachim Catholic Church in Rolla. Together they had two children, Megan and Michael. They lived in Grand Forks for several years where Brenda worked for Pillsbury.

George and Brenda also lived in Iowa for a time before George became an officer in the United States Air Force. They then became a military family living on numerous air bases in California, Mississippi, Alaska. Ohio and Texas.

Brenda was involved with many military activities. She was a member of the Officers Spouses Club and was known for her beautiful decorating skills, which could be seen throughout her home, especially for every holiday. She enjoyed shopping, jewelry, collecting antiques, baking for family and friends, and fishing and white-water rafting with her family.

Brenda and George were members of the Gourmet Club and loved to entertain. She had a sweet tooth, especially for chocolate and red licorice. Brenda was easy going and full of love, always enjoyed having fun, and loved doing for others.

For the past 16 years, Brenda has fought a long, but courageous battle with Parkinson's disease. She never lost hope that one day there will come a cure. She will be lovingly missed by all of her family and friends.

The family would like to thank Diane Ring for all her love and care she gave to Brenda throughout the years and to Texhoma Christian Care Center throughout the last few months.

Brenda is survived by her husband of 27 years, George Scherer; daughter, Megan Scherer; son, Michael Scherer, all of Wichita Falls; her mother, Lois Gefroh of Rolla; sister, Rene Plecity of Rolla; three brothers, Kurt (Debby) Gefroh of Douglas, Wyoming, John (Audrey) Gefroh of Rolla, and Mark (Sheri) Gefroh of Rolla; and many nieces and nephews.

Brenda was preceded in death by her father, John A. Gefroh; her maternal grandparents, Wilfred and Betty Juntunen; and her paternal grandparents, John and Emelia Gefroh.

Casket bearers were Kurt, John, and Mark Gefroh, Steven and Brett McAtee. and Darwin Carpenter.

Honorary bearers were all nieces, nephews and cousins.

Eucharistic gifts were by Corenne and Monte McAtee.

Readers were Gwen Carpenter and Julie Lentz.

Music was provided by Maureen Munro, Albert Johnson and Virginia Boucher.

Funeral Mass was Wednesday, May 19, 2010, in St. Joachim Catholic Church, Rolla, with Fr. Jake Miller presiding. Burial took place in St. Michaels Catholic Cemetery, Rolla,.
