Paul J. Rondeau

Turtle Mountain Star of Rolla, North Dakota

Paul J. Rondeau, age 42, of St. John, passed away on Wednesday, August 25, 2010, in the Quentin Bur-dick Memorial Hospital in Belcourt, surrounded by his family and friends, following a courageous battle with cancer.

Paul John "Pacer" Rondeau was born on July 17, 1968, in Rolette, to Andrew and Alta (Grumbo) Rondeau. Paul attended school in Bel-court and graduated from the Belcourt High School in 1986.

He furthered his education at Dickinson State College and earned a certificate in truck driving.

Paul worked for the Loram railroad doing maintenance after his schooling.

For the past 16 years, Paul lived in St. John and worked for the Turtle Mountain Tribe in the maintenance department.

Paul enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing pool and darts. He loved being with and visiting with his family and friends, especially having dinner with his sisters.

He will be lovingly missed by all.

Paul is survived by his brothers and sisters, Michael (Deb) of Dun-seith, Jeff (Michelle Blue) of Belcourt, Tom (Christi) of St. John, Patty Gourneau of St. John, Mary (Jim) Mitchell of Belcourt, and Annie (Pat St. Germaine) Rondeau of Belcourt; nephews, Chris, Sam, Dan, Joe, and Pat Rondeau, Will Langan, Jacob Rondeau, Matt Johnson, Brandon St. Germaine, and Christopher Leo Rondeau; and nieces, Anna Rose Johnson, Christin Rondeau, Sidney St. Germaine, Sally Rondeau, and McKenzie Rondeau; several great-nieces and great-nephews; uncle, Charles Grumbo of Bismarck; aunts, Ann Kelder of Lisbon and Laura (Martin) Azure of Devils Lake; and sister-in-law, Cheryl Rondeau-Bassett of Wilmont, South Dakota.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Alta Rondeau; his brother, Mark, and his grandparents.

Casket bearers were Frank Poitra, Chris Cain, Raymond "Tine" Von-dal, Tom Rondeau, Matt Jeanotte, and Howard Wanna.

Honorary bearers were all family and friends.

Special music was provided by Joe Parisien and Matt Johnson.

Funeral Mass will be Monday. August 30, 2010, in St. Ann's Catholic Church, Belcourt, with Fr. Mark Wheelan, S.O.L.T. presiding.

Burial followed in St. Ann's Catholic Cemetery, Belcourt.

Elick Funeral Home, Rolla, was in charge of arrangements.
