A man who served more than seven years in prison for his role in a gruesome murder on the Turtle Mountain Indian Reservation has been arrested for seven parole violations.

Bobby Joe Demery pleaded guilty in 2001 to obstruction of justice. He was one of 11 people originally charged in the 2000 killing of Linus Wallette, who was beaten to death with a pickax, knife and hammer.

Daniel Greatwalker was sentenced to life in prison for the murder.

Authorities say Demery's violations include possession of marijuana, testing positive for marijuana and amphetamines, failure to work regularly at a lawful occupation, failure to report to his parole officer, failure to pay restitution, and arrests in Cass County for menacing and aggravated assault.
