Harry L. Peltier Sr.

Mass of the Christian Burial for Harry L. Peltier Sr., age 74, of Washington, was held on Wednesday, September 1, 2009. at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Dun-seith, North Dakota. Burial was in the St. Louis Catholic Cemetery, Dunseith. Harry passed away on Wednesday, August 26, 2009, in a Snoqualmie, Washington, hospital.

Officiating at the service was the Reverend Father Jeff Eppler S.O.L.T. The readers were Carmelita Hunt and Denise Peltier. Pat Loren Peltier and Linda Peltier were the soloists and the eulogist was Fern M. Peltier. The Rosary leader was Madeline Peltier and the altar servers were Harold and Zack Bruce. Lisa Graham was the Gift Bearer. Traditional drams were by Red Thunder.

Casket bearers were Philip G. Peltier, Curtis E. Peltier, Ronald J. Peltier, Edward Ross Peltier, Mark E. Peltier, Ernest L. Azure and Steve Azure. Honorary bearers were Jacob L. Peltier, David L. Peltier and Cody L. Peltier.

Harry Lawrence Peltier, a son of Prudent and Mary Ann (McArthur) Peltier, was born on November 7, 1934, at Dunseith. He was reared and educated in the Dunseith area. As a young boy he worked for farmers from Minnesota to Montana. In 1952, he was married to Margaret Patnaude. Harry worked as a director for the Community Action Program in the Turtle Mountains. In 1968, they moved to Washington where he worked as a mason. On January 8, 2001, Margaret passed away. Harry retired from work in 2008.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus at the St. Louise Parish in Bellevue. Washington. Harry was a golden glove champion as a young man.

He is survived by his children. Prudent L. Peltier, Sherry A. Peltier, Mary Ann Peltier, Harry L. Peltier Jr., Marjorie A. Sarver, Shelly A. Peltier, Ivan L. Peltier, Gerald L. Peltier and Daniel L. Peltier; 28 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren: a brother, Edward J. Peltier; and sisters, Teresa R. Counts and Phyllis A. Henry.

Harry was preceded in death by his parents: wife, Margaret; and daughters, Diane M. Peltier and Gail Peltier-Rodrigues.

Arrangements were with the Nero Funeral Home in Bottineau.
