Two people were injured in a two-vehicle accident 11 miles east of Rolla Thursday afternoon.

According to an accident report from the N.D. Highway Patrol, a semi being driven by Michael Meyer, 52, of Casselton collided with a grain truck being driven by Jayme Carlson, 28, of Rock Lake.

The report stated that Meyer was traveling east on U.S. Highway 281 and Carlson was hauling grain, driving north on 61st Avenue Northeast to an elevator on N.D. Highway 4.

The report states that as she approached Highway 281, Carlson failed to stop and Meyer applied his brakes to try to avoid a collision but his semi struck the driver's side of Carlson's truck.

Both vehicles came to rest in the northeast ditch of Highway 4 and Highway 281.

Meyer and Carlson were transported to Presentation Medical Center in Rolla for medical treatment.

Carlson was later airlifted out to Trinity Hospital in Minot. According to the report, Meyer was wearing a seatbelt but Carlson was not.

Responding to the accident were the N.D. Highway Patrol, Rock Lake Rural Fire Department and the Rolla Ambulance Squad.
