Vera V. Zeckser

Vera V. Zeckser, 91, of Council Grove, KS, passed away Saturday, April 03, 2010, at Stormont Vail Hospital.

She was born June 6, 1918, to Clifford W. and Edith (Craig) Con-well, in Alma, KS. She married Melvin Zeckser on May 2, 1963 in Alma, KS.

Vera was a member of the Calvary Lutheran Church and the Lutheran Women's Mission League. She volunteered at the Community Thrift Store and the Senior Citizen's Center.

She enjoyed quilting, canning and traveling. She loved spending time with her family and adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Vera was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Melvin; son, Malcolm Fechner; brother, Gerald Conwell; and sisters, Shirley Zimmerman and Geraldine Conwell.

She is survived by her son, Mitchell Fechner and wife Brenda, of Kellyville, OK; daughter-in-law, Lillian Flegle and husband Richard, of Enterprise, KS; brother-in-law, George Zimmerman, of Greely, CO; grandchildren, April Fechner, Jake Fechner, Sorrell Patton, Cole Fechner and Dusty Kragel; 11 great-grandchldren; and 10 nieces and nephews.

Vera donated her body to the KU Medical Center. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, April 10, 2010, at Calvary Lutheran Church, with Pastor David H. Parks, officiating. A private inurnment will follow at Welcome Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Lutheran Church and may be mailed to Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, Box 273, Council Grove, KS, 66846.
