Obituary

Alvin P. Moran

Alvin P. Moran, 66, died Friday, April 9, 2010, at the Midland Hospice House in Topeka.

He was born December 4, 1943 at Dover, Kansas, the son of Harley "Jiggs" and Betty L. Martin Moran. Alvin grew up in the Dover community and graduated from Dover High School in 1961. He had lived in the Dover community all of his life.

Mr. Moran had worked at the Santa Fe Railroad shops in Topeka. He had owned and operated Moran Implement in Dover for many years and later American Lawn and Leisure in Topeka for the past 16 years. Alvin served as a reserve officer for the Shawnee County Sheriff's Department and held the rank of Captain. He was a member of the Dover Fire Department, the Dover Ball Association and had been a past member of the Dover Jaycees.

On February 18, 1961 he was united in marriage to Zelda Ginter in Holton. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include his four daughters, Brenda (Tom) Rutledge, Dover, Shelly (Tim) Widau, Eskridge, Tracy (Brady) Brown, Tonganox-ie, and Tara (Daniel) Bryan, Auburn; a brother, Allen Moran, Topeka; seven grandchildren, Cole, Jess, Madison, Mackenzie, Cassius, Lucy and Sam.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 14, 2010, at the Dover Federated Church. Interment was in the Dover Cemetery. Interment was in the Dover Cemetery.
