Guy C. Orton

Guy C. Orton, 81, Topeka, passed away Thursday, May 20, 2010. Guy was born in Morris County, the son of Harold and Feo Hawes Orton.

He graduated from Alma High School in 1946 and went on to serve our country in the US Navy until 1949. He married Darlene Herren in 1950. They later divorced. Guy worked for the Santa Fe Railway for over 39 years. In June of 1970, Guy married Marian Shipp Holliday and they enjoyed almost 40 years together. Marian survives.

Guy was a member of First Lutheran Church and the Santa Fe Old Timer's. He touched many lives especially through his volunteering at St. Francis Hospital and his church.

Other survivors include his sons, Richard Orton (Linda), Joel Orton (Claudia), Kevin Orton (Kathy), Rex Orton (Robin), and Richard Holliday (Gay); grandchildren, Michael Stanley (Kim), Alaire Wilson (Rob), Matt Orton, Joey Orton, Bennett Orton, Craig Orton, Makenna Orton, Max Orton and Makade Orton; and five great-grandchildren; sisters, Wilma Wenderott, Shirley Stuewe; step-brothers, Melvin Heideman, Pete Heideman; and step-sisters, Beulah Tenbrink, Mae Werst and Ardith Kuhn.

Family greeted friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, May 23, 2010, at Kevin Brennan Family Funeral Home, Topeka KS.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 Monday, May 24, 2010, at First Lutheran Church with burial following at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery.
