The wildly popular tractor cruise that has been held in the Paxico Community during the past three years has grown by great proportions to the point where it has become the Flint Hills Tractor Club.

This year's event will be held Saturday, September 18. Registration will be held from 8:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at the Wabaunsee High School Football Field in Alma. The ride, or cruise, will begin at 9:30. It will be a 37-mile ride and includes a tour of the Ag Heritage Park in Alta Vista.

A $20.00 registration fee will include a cap, lunch and the Ag Heritage Park tour. There will also be door prizes.

Drivers are reminded that they will sign a release, must observe all rules on the ride and display a slow moving vehicle sign on their tractor. Support vehicles will lead and follow the tractor parade.

The route for this year's tour will be as follows: Tractors will leave the WHS Football Field parking lot, continue around Manor Circle, down main street Alma to Old K-10. Tractors will drive Old K-10 to Alta Vista. After arriving in Alta Vista participants will tour the Ag Heritage Museum owned by Hazel and the late Everett Zimmerman.

After the museum tour lunch will be served in the Alta Vista City Park. Lunch will be provided by Bob and Shirley Stuewe and family. A drawing will be held in the park for door prizes.

The return trip will take drivers back to Alma by traveling down Bluestem, Volland and Illinois Creek Roads as they view the beautiful Flint Hills.

Over 50 tractors and drivers are expected to participate in this year's event. Spectators are encouraged to watch the drivers as they pass, however, they are asked not to interfere with the tractor's as they travel the route.

Contacts for this year's tractor cruise are David Thowe (785-617-0585) and Mike Erikson (785-617-0060). The Paxico Merchants Association sponsors this event.
