Wabaunsee High School's FFA Club is receiving a national award at the National Conference in Indianapolis. Last year, the WHS Future Farmers of America received a gold award at the state level (the top honor available). They then sent in an application to the National FFA chapter, who gave them a rating of 2 out of 3 stars, putting the WHS FFA Chapter in the top 5 percent of the chapters in the nation. The club participated in nine activities such as: 3 leadership workshops, career day tours, Junior High rush week, FFA work auctions, Santa's Express, Earth Day, and volunteered at Wabaunsee Pines. "This should give the FFA chapter a boost and gain some recognition for our school. We will try and get some television cameras here, to recognize this great honor, in the area news," commented Principal Dr. Larry Andersen. This year's WHS FFA chapter includes 47 members. So far they have participated in land judging and the green hand conference. On Tuesday, October 13, FFA attended dairy cattle judging. Results were not available at press time.
