CopyAlice C. Stevens, age 87 of Moorhead, MN and formerly of Park River, ND was called home to be with Jesus on Friday, August 28, 2009 at the MeritCare Palliative Care Unit in Fargo.
Alice C. Olson was born September 2, 1921 in Badger, MN the daughter of the late Louis and Lena (Saagge) Olson. She grew up and graduated from the Walsh County Agricultural School in Park River. She married Andrew "Andy" Stevens on November 2, 1940 in Grafton, ND. Over the years the couple resided in rural Edmore, Fordville and Hoople, ND, moving to Park River in 1973 and Moorhead, MN in 2006. During her lifetime Alice loved to work in the potato harvest for Rinde Farms of Hoople, ND. She enjoyed working with the public at the Gullickson Cafe in Hoople. After moving to Park River she worked as a cook for St. Ansgar's Hospital until her retirement.
She was a member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church and WELCA of Park River, ND.
Alice is survived by her husband Andy of Moorhead, MN; son James (Linda) Stevens, Sun City, CA; daughters: Janice (Samuel) Bradford, Moorhead, MN; Carol (Tracy) Dietrich, West Fargo, ND; 10 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; five step-grandchildren, five step great grandchildren; sister Ruby Gunhus, Grand Forks, ND; sister-in-law Ruby Olson, Mountain, ND. She was preceded in death by her parents, infant daughter, brothers: Merle, George, Oliver and Julian and sisters: Laura Roberts and Myrtle Trygg.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, September 2, 2009 at 2:00 PM at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church of Park River, ND. Visitation will be Wednesday for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, Park River, ND.
