G. Russell Kellner died Wednesday, August 5, 2009 at his home in Marion, Ohio, surrounded by his children and grandchildren.

Russ was born June 10, 1934 in New Raymer, Colorado to Kenneth and Helen Kellner. When he was growing up he lived in New Raymer and Sterling, Colorado, Kimball, Nebraska, and Upton, Wyoming.

Russ graduated from Upton High School in 1952. While there he excelled in football, basketball, baseball, and socializing. He met and fell in love with DiAnne Shrider and they married June 15, 1952. They shared 57 years together before her death on July 22, 2009.

Russ was a rancher in Wyoming and he never lost his love for the country he was born in and that way of life. He later owned Pringles, Inc. and ran it until his retirement.

He tried to be active in his community by serving as president of Marion Evening Lions, Marion Cadet Booster Club, and Board of Governors. He was currently on the Marion Cemetery Board. To spend time with his grandchildren he volunteered in me cafeteria at St. Mary's and Marion Catholic. He loved going to Marion Catholic Football games, especially when his two grandsons played. Russ would always sit at the top of the stands next to the press box and cheer for the Irish.

Russ enjoyed watching his grandchildren do things they enjoyed and tried to attend all their activities. His grandchildren know how lucky they were to have had a grandpa in their life and will miss him.

Russ is survived by his children, Kerry (Joseph) Richardson, Kim (Michael) Taylor, Kyle (Shelley) Kellner, and Kitty (Timothy) Rasmussen; grandchildren, Austin and Zoe Richardson, Owen Taylor, Kelly (Cory) Allen, Rusty and Ethan Kellner, Stephen, Brittany and Philip Ashcraft, and Karley, Anna, and Jillian Rasmussen; one great grandchild, Kendall Allen; sister-in-law, Mary Kellner; aunt, Jewell Artzer; best friend, Gary Swartz; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife. DiAnne: his son, Kelly in 1979; his grandson, Miles Richardson in 1992; his parents; his step-parents, Mabel Kellner and Claude Curtis: and his brother, Kenneth Kellner in 1979.

Russ was a wonderful, strong, funny, loving man. He was our hero. He always did whatever it took to support his wife and children. He was honest, loyal and forgiving. He was our rock, our guide through life and was always there until the end.

There will be no public visitation. A private family service will be held and burial will be at a later date.

In memory of Russ, contributions may be made to Marion General Hospice.

Arrangements are in care of Boyd-Born Funeral Home of Marion, Ohio.
