The Wyoming Game and Fish Department is seeking information on the illegal shooting of five pronghorn antelope along Highway 85 about 24 miles south of Newcastle on September 4.

Three does and two fawns were shot from the highway with a small caliber firearm and left to rot. The hunting season for firearms does not open in hunt area 6 until Oct. 1. One of the does lay paralyzed until Game Warden Dustin Shorma arrived on scene and put the animal down several hours later.

"We're looking for anyone who has information on this crime or who may have observed a vehicle near mile marker 206 and 208 sometime the morning of Sept. 4," Shorma said.

Anyone with information on this crime, or who witnesses any wildlife crime, should call the Stop Poaching tip line at 1-877-WGFD-TTP. Be alert and gather as much specific information about a violation as possible. Try to document the date, time, location and specific nature of the violation. Include a physical description of the suspected violator or include contact information if possible, as well as a license plate number and description of any vehicles involved in the incident. Informants can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward.
