A committee from the Trego Hospital Endowment Foundation, and other interested citizens is asking for public assistance in assembling a Physician Wall of Honor to be placed at the hospital in appreciation of medical service to the community, particularly in the hospital. To date, information has been gathered from pamphlets and scrapbooks, but more is desired. The committee is looking for photographs and information from the 1940's through the 1970s.

The original building housing the Trego County Lemke Memorial Hospital was built in the early 1950s and for that reason, the wall will be designed to include physicians who have served during that time. There have been a number of interns and residents who have been here for a short time as part of their education in rural hospitals, and some of those names have also been mentioned along with physicians who have only lived and worked in Trego County for a couple of years.

The committee is requesting ideas of how to display pictures or photographs. These ideas will be reviewed and an appropriate design will be chosen to display at the Trego Lemke Memorial Hospital. Along with photographs, there has been a suggestion of using stories that have been offered by community members regarding physician charisma during unique or unusual circumstances.

Please mail or drop off your ideas, pictures, and/or stories to Kristina Kerst, Trego Hospital, 320 N. 13, WaKeeney. Your assistance in honoring our physicians is greatly appreciated.
