The meeting was called to order by John Reeder at 5.30 p.m.

The Clerk recorded attendance as follows: John Reeder, President,

Renae Denning, Vice President, Linda Crossland, Doug Malay, Doug Minson, Tammy Riedel, Superintendent Mark Bejot, Clerk Kathy Eberle.

Guests: John Luhrs, Tavis Desormiers, Joe Spangler, Emily Wyse, Leah Flax, Amelia Fabrizius, Brandon Eberle, Nicole Russ, Cala Nowlin, Kourtney Halksworth, Rachael Newcomer, Kirsten Locke, Catie Riedel, Rubin Sherwood, Cody Crossland.

It was moved by Doug Minson, seconded by Tammy Riedel to approve the changes and additions to the agenda. Motion carried with six affirmative votes.

It was moved by Doug Minson, seconded by Linda Crossland to approve the consent calendar, including the agenda, the minutes of Septebmer 14, 2009, clerk's report, and manifest of bills, including the following warrants: First Federal Savings & Loan: 35797 thru 35889 $163, 794.00 and the treasurer's report. Motion carried with six affirmative votes.

Received a thank you note from the Rita Weber & Family for the memorial for her mother.

ADMINISTRATOR REPORTS

Mr. Bejot:

John Reeder was presented a Level I Honor Roll Certificate from Kansas Association of School Boards.

Informed the board of a possible boiler pipe repair at the grade school.

There will be no school for students on December 2, it will be an inservice day for teachers.

We are watching the number of students missing school for illness. We sent an Alert Now message to parents reminding them to keep children home until they are fever free for 24 hours.

The district is making arrangements for H1N1 shots with the Trego Health Department.

The TCHS Library roof flashing will be repaired.

Mr. Desormiers:

Tuesday will be the Children's Theatre presentation for grades 4-8 at 1 p.m.

District is getting ready to go online for parents with Power-School.

Last week was National Bully Awareness Week.

Week of October 26 is Red Ribbon Week and TGS Book Fair

October 30 is scheduled for Parent Teacher Conferences

Site Council discussed possible donations for the fence around the playground

Trego hosted the MCEL Volleyball tournament last weekend.

There will not be a Junior High Football Game this Thursday.

Mr. Luhrs:

Cross Country, Volleyball, Tennis & Football athletes updated the board on their seasons.

Presented the 2010-2011 8 man football schedule.

Joe Spangler introduced himself as the USD 208 Recreation Director.

It was moved by Doug Malay, seconded by Tammy Riedel to set a special meeting for October 26 at 5:30 p.m. for the Superintendent Evaluation. Motion carried with six affirmative votes.

Don Tilton from Mapes & Miller CPA presented the 2008-09 audit report.

It was moved by Doug Minson, seconded by Renae Denning to table accepting the audit report until November for changes to be made. Motion carried with six affirmative votes.

It was moved by Doug Minson, seconded by Doug Malay to accept the USD 208 Technology Goals recommended by the Technology Committee for 2009-2010. Motion carried with six affirmative votes.

It was moved by Renae Denning, seconded by Linda Crossland to accept the course curriculum changes as presented. Motion carried with six affirmative votes.

It was moved by Linda Crossland, seconded by Tammy Riedel to approve the members of the 2009-2010 Curriculum Coordinating Council: Cindy Malay, Chris Herl, Robbie Uhl, Ron Smith, Carey Fose, Kathy Jamison, Jeff Rhoden, Carol Burgardt, Bev Legg, Beth Billinger, Tavis Desormiers, John Luhrs, Mark Bejot, Tammy Riedel and Sheryl Hillman, Secretary. Motion carried with six affirmative votes.

It was moved by Doug Minson, seconded by Renae Denning to adopt "Essentials of Human Anatomy and Physiology" by Pearson Prentice Hall as our anatomy and Physiology course textbook. Motion carried with six affirmative votes.

Doug Malay left the room. It was moved by Doug Minson, seconded by Tammy Riedel that December 2, 2009 become an in-service day for faculty to work on our district school improvement process. Motion carried with five affirmative votes.

Doug Malay returned to the meeting. The board discussed whether to reinstate a valedictorian at TCHS. No action was taken.

It was moved by Doug Malay, seconded by Doug Minson to table appointing a voting delegate for the KASB Convention until November. Motion carried with six affirmative votes.

It was moved by Renae Denning, seconded by Linda Crossland to accept the grant from Midwest Energy Community Fund in the amount of $500 for the purchase of a camcorder, memory card, dvd's and a case for TCHS. Motion carried with six affirmative votes.

It was moved by Doug Malay, seconded by Doug Minson to accept the gift of $600 from the Trego County Commissioners to help sponsor National Red Ribbon Week. Motion carried with six affirmative votes.

It was moved by Tammy Riedel, seconded by Renae Denning to accept the donation of an HP Business Inkjet 2800 printer from the Natural Resources Conservation Service. Motion carried with six affirmative votes.

It was moved by Doug Malay, seconded by Linda Crossland to allow the TCHS Dance Team to participate in the FHSU Cheer/Dance Exhibition on Sunday, November 8th from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. Motion carried with six affirmative votes.

It was moved by Doug Minson, seconded by Tammy Riedel to approve the WaKeeney FFA Chapter attend National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana from October 20-24, 2009. Motion carried with six affirmative votes.

It was moved by Doug Minson, seconded by Linda Crossland, to go into executive session for the purpose of discussing personnel matters for nonelected personnel with the superintendent, and building principals present; and that the board return to the open meeting at 7:50 p.m. in this room. The meeting was reconvened at 7:50 p.m.

It was moved by Doug Minson, seconded by Doug Malay to approve the resignation of Monica Krenzer, TGS Asst Track; Amanda Pfannenstial, TGS Girls Head Volleyball and Lucy Fabrizius, TGS Food Service Worker. Motion carried with six affirmative votes.

It was moved by Doug Malay, seconded by Tammy Riedel that USD 208 join the Schools for Fair Funding Committee and adopt the Schools for Fair Funding Resolution. Motion carried with six affirmative votes.
