Jack's sudden and unexpected death has left us devastated. He is preceded in death by his mother Rosa, his father Edward and his ex-wife Linda. He is survived by his brother Robert Chavey and his wife Kerry Nix, his children Kimberley and her husband Allen, Tamara and Candace, his long time companion Elsie Cuffe, loving sister-in-law Elaine, grandchildren (Ashlee, Jory, Haley, Austin, Christian, Nicholas), nephews, nieces, and a large extended family. He was "Dad", friend, advisor, landlord, and aid to many.

Jack grew up in West Seattle. In fact, he loved the area so much that after graduating from Stanford University he moved back, got married, bought a house, raised his girls there - and was still living there at the time of his death. The home has always been a popular spot for get-togethers and barbeques, rest and refuge. He was a loyal customer to local business, enjoyed walking the beach, and marked the first Friday in June for the West Seattle High School All Class Reumion each year!

Jack was a mechainical test engineer for Boeing for over 30 years in the structural test department. After retirement he took on the role of "Grandpa" with as much enthusiasm and pride, if not more, as he did his aviation projects. He was very actively involved in their lives, from homework to baseball, chauffeur and "fish smoker" - the grandpa who knew how to do "everything"! Though he often referred to himself as a procrastinator, he'll be remembered more for his generosity and out-going spirit. He was a meticulous, hardworking, devoted family man. Bueno!

A celebration of Jack's life was held March 12. He was laid to rest with his parents at Hillcrest Burial Park.

Remembrances may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Diabetes Association.
