RUTH MATHILDE HAHN

Ruth M. Hahn (Mrs. Wilfhart Hahn) age 86, of Gaylord, passed away Saturday, August 21, 2010 at Hillcrest Care Center in Mankato.

Funeral services were held Thursday, August 23, 2010 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Arlington, with Rev. Bruce Hanneman officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.

Casket bearers were her nephews, Ronald Blaser, Michael Bogatzki, Richard Hahn, Jeffrey Radick, Wayne Bogatzki, Douglas Elling, Jeff Majeski and John Radick.

Honorary casket bearers were two of her neighbors, Steven Goetsch and Jeff Meyer.

Ruth Mathilde (Bogatzki) Hahn was born on February 14, 1924 in Green Isle Township, Sibley County. She was the daughter of William and Gertrude (Rosenfeld) Bogatzki. Ruth was baptized as an infant on February 24, 1924 by Pastor Karl Reuter at Zion Lutheran Church in Green Isle Township and was later confirmed in her faith as a youth on May 2, 1937 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Arlington by Pastor Robert Heidmann.

She is survived by her sisters Norma Elling of Mankato, Gertrude Hahn of Gaylord, Beata Polzin of Glencoe and Lois Majeski of Winthrop. Sister-in-law Sherri Bogatzki of Flaglu Beach, Fl, many nieces, nephews and friends.

Ruth is preceded in death by her parents, husband William Bogatzki, infant sister Bernice, brother-in-laws Milo Elling, Marvin Polzin, Willmer Majeski and Rueben Hanhn. Sister-in-laws Gertrude Bogatzki and Darlene Bogatzki, nephews, Kenneth Majeski, Steven Polzin and Paul Polzin.

On August 2, 1950 Ruth was united in marriage to Wilfhart A Hahn at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gaylord by Rev. Ernst Stahlke. Ruth and Wilfhart lived in Arlington area for many years. Where she worked for H.M. Noack. When they moved to Gaylord she did sewing for Fingerhut/Wieman Company's. After she retired Ruth spent many hours embroidering dish towels and sewing doll clothes.

Ruth and Wilfhart shared 50 years of marriage before Wilfhart passed away on May 24, 2001.

Ruth was a long time member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Arlington. She also was a member of the Mission Club, where she served as a reporter for many years. Ruth enjoyed making her homemade pies for the many Mission Club events.

Ruth and Wilfhart were able to travel to many places in the United States and Canada. Ruth also traveled with her cousin Verna Goetz to Europe in 1998. They were looking to find family information about Ludwig Bogatzki for the family tree book. Ruth and Verna are great-grand daughters of Ludwig.

Ruth will be greatly missed by her sisters, nieces, nephews and her extended family and friends.
