A total of 16 volunteers from several Mason County community organizations cleared land for a new community garden at Catalyst Park on April 16 and 17. The park, which is located at the corner of Eighth Street and Harvard Avenue on Angleside, was covered in pulling out invasive weeds, scotch broom and blackberries.

Members of the WSU Mason County Master Gardeners; Shelton Ki-wanis, Shelton Optimists, 4-H and Shelton Rotary clubs are working with the City of Shelton to establish a demonstration garden dedicated to growing food for the Saints Pantry Food Bank. Preparations are also being made for "a pea patch" community garden for interested clubs or families to adopt to tend and harvest food for them or the community.

Catalyst Park planning meetings are held the first Tuesday of every month at 5:45 p.m. at the Shelton Civic Center. Community members are invited to attend.
