Small Town Festivals - The Spirit of Community

This past weekend, Reynolds celebrated another successful annual festival. A little rain wasn't about to damper any spirits! Burnettsville, Chalmers, Monon, Monticello, and Wolcott have all held festivals as well, and Brookston's Apple Popcorn Festival is coming soon. Good times, good food, and great memories.

Supporting these festivals is one way to support your community.

Volunteers work hard to design a successful event, but it is only successful when people come and enjoy it - and then spread the word so that more people come share the experience the next year.

Your White County Community Foundation is much the same. The Foundation is a celebration of community spirit, manifested in grants, scholarships, and programs that serve charitable interests. The more people become involved with the Foundation - as a donor, grant or scholarship applicant, Committee member, or whatever - the more potential we have to positively impact our community.

The potential benefits of our White County Community Foundation Funds are limited only by our imagination. Funds may be established to serve any number of charitable purposes: we usually think in terms of benefiting designated agencies or supporting scholarships, but that's only the beginning! Have you ever thought about a Chalmers Fund? or

a Reynolds or Wolcott Fund? Small towns thrive because people who live in them want the best for each other. And they don't just want that for today - they want it for tomorrow, for their children and grandchildren. Anyone may establish a Fund within the White County Community

Foundation, and if you're someone who cares deeply about your community, a Fund might be a new charitable opportunity for you (and your family and friends) to consider. The possibilities are truly exciting!

Across the country, small town festivals reconnect us to our past while building a stronger commitment to our future. Your White County

Community Foundation is built upon that same commitment and is here to help you find a way to celebrate your charitable wishes. If you would like to help design a plan to support your community into perpetuity (and perpetuity is a very long time!), contact White County Community Foundation Director Leslie Goss at 574-583-6911 or log onto www.whitecf.org.

Congratulations to all county festival and event volunteers - you are the heart of our celebrations!
