Services for Gary Riordan held Sept. 9 in Pierson

Gary W. Riordan, 60, of Pierson died Sunday, Sept. 5, 2010, at a Sioux City hospital of injuries suffered in a motorcycle accident.

Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, September 9 at the Christian Church in Pierson, with Clif Cockburn officiating. Burial was in Good Hope Cemetery, rural Correctionville, Iowa. Rohde Funeral Home of Kingsley, Iowa, was in charge of arrangements.

Gary Wayne Riordan was born Aug. 19, 1950, in Sioux City, the son of Albert "Dale" and Effie (Kirchner) Riordan. Gary was a member of the Christian Church in Correctionville, Iowa. He lived his entire life in the Pierson community. Gary graduated from Kingsley-Pierson High School in 1968 and attended Universal Trade School in Omaha, Nebraska. He worked for Riordan and Son DX, Kingsley-Pierson Schools, and Schuster Trucking.

On Jan. 6, 1978 Gary was united in marriage to Cindy Harrison in Pierson, Iowa and later divorced.

Gary enjoyed working on cars, helping friends, riding motorcycles and going to car shows and parades. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his son, Garret of Cedar Falls, Iowa; his mother, Effie Riordan of Pierson; his brother, Roger Riordan of Pierson; two nephews; and many cousins and friends.

Gary was preceded in death by his father, Albert "Dale" Riordan; and his daughter, Shanda Riordan
